X account of Myanmar’s acting president seems hacked. Hacker(s) intending to promote a digital currency.
On 22 Feb 2025, the X account of Myanmar’s acting president, Min Aung Hlaing, tweeted about Myanmar’s digital currency. Tweet noted that the country aimed to digitize the economy with a national digital currency.
The government official failed to share any link or official document related to the planned Cryptocurrency. Because of these observations, many people claimed that probably Aung’s X account has been hacked.
It is worth it to note that the tweet by the account was posted nearly 12 hours ago & still, that tweet is undeleted. So here we can’t say anything with full confirmation.
Just now, from the time of publication of this report, the Myanmar leader tweeted that the token will be launched in 50 minutes.
Here, the Bitcoinik.com team would like to suggest that readers stay away from this Cryptocurrency because there are chances that there may be some hacker behind the account.
Myanmar & Crypto Adoption
Myanmar has a mixed stance on cryptocurrencies. In 2020, the government of Myanmar imposed a ban on crypto trading & last year, the Central Bank again warned citizens against trading cryptocurrencies. Despite crypto ban measures, the interest of the population of this country in crypto is growing significantly, especially for remittances and financial inclusion. The opposition introduced the Digital Myanmar Kyat (DMMK) to bypass military-controlled banks, showing how Cryptocurrencies can be used to easily oppose political resistance. We can say that the adoption of cryptocurrencies is increasing rapidly, but simultaneously, regulatory challenges continue to create uncertainty.
